Being on maternity leave has meant that I now have the time to perform crafty projects! While bub sleeps and when the will to perform the endless amount of house work has left me, my mind wonders to what type of potential projects I could do to fill my time. I love projects!! Doing craft projects is not something I would normally own up to; many think it’s extremely daggy. But making crafts is a bit of a guilty pleasure. There’s nothing more satisfying than coming up with a plan, getting creative and spending time finishing a project.
I guess crafts is in my blood. My mother filled the house with craft supplies when I was young and I always remember playing with all the ribbons and materials, but I especially loved the buttons. My mother had an old biscuit tin filled to the brim with buttons of every size and colour. I would spend hours trawling through the collection, grouping colours, or shapes and sizes. Moving my hand through the thousands of buttons satisfied a wonderful tactile need.
So after seeing some lovely monogram pictures made out of buttons for children’s bedrooms on Etsy, I thought, “I could do that”. For those of you not familiar with Etsy, it’s a fabulous website that sells homemade products from around the world. I especially like Etsy because I get to support hard working Mums trying to make some money while at home.
So, here they are…E for Eva and I for Isabel. I ended up gluing the buttons rather than sewing them.
And yes afterwards, Isabel and I separated the buttons by colour! I wonder if she’ll grow up liking crafts?
